Have you ever said or thought any of these things?
“I can’t be consistent working out at home by myself.”
“I need to have a gym to go to or I can’t get my workout in.”
“I don’t have enough time in my day to fit a workout in.”
I know I have. Getting into a workout routine at home can be tough. But you know what’s tougher? The feeling of constantly letting yourself down, knowing you’re not showing up for you.
Back in 2019, when the gym I co-owned closed, I had to make a choice. Drive 30 minutes to the next nearest gym? Or commit to something that fit my life: workouts at home. I was going back to a full-time job with a 45-minute commute and had two little kids (now three!). The idea of dragging them to a gym after work, just to spend less time with them, wasn’t going to cut it.
So I made a change. I decided to give home workouts another try—but this time, I had a plan. I found a great online program (Street Parking), started with minimal equipment, and slowly built my space and my consistency. And guess what? It worked.
Fast-forward to today, and I’m proud to say I’ve created my own solution to help other busy moms do the same. It’s called the FITM App (Fit In The Mitt) — and it was made for you: the mom who wants to get fit from home, without sacrificing hours of your day or breaking the bank.
Ready to build your home gym routine? Here’s how to get started:
1. Pick a Program (like the FITM App!)
Consistency comes from structure. My FITM App offers short, effective workouts that can be done with minimal equipment in 30 minutes or less. Whether you’re into strength, conditioning, or bodyweight basics, there’s a workout that fits your life. Plus, you get access to 5 new workouts each week, accountability, and workouts that you can do “with me” from anywhere.
If cost is a concern, no worries! There are plenty of free options online too. But having a guided plan can make all the difference when you’re just getting started.
2. Set a Realistic Routine
Don’t jump into 5 or 6 days a week right off the bat. Instead, aim for 3 strength sessions and add in movement daily (hello, walks!). Start small and build momentum. The FITM App is designed with this progression in mind.
3. Equip Your Space
You don’t need a full gym setup. Start small and grow as you go.
Top Recommendations:
Dumbbells: Your most versatile home gym tool. Start with a pair that challenges you for 8–12 reps.

Dumbbell-to-Kettlebell Converter: Great if you prefer KB swings with a handle.

Bike: The Assault Bike is my go-to. For a budget-friendly option, the Marcy Bike is a solid choice.

Soft Plyo Box: Safe, sturdy, and perfect for step-ups, box jumps, and more.

4. Dress the Part (or Don’t 😉)
PJs are totally fine, but sometimes a cute workout set gives you that extra boost! Here are some of my favorites:
Shoes: I always go back to my trusty Reebok Nano trainers. Save $$ by buying last season’s edition!
Tanks: Try the 1st Phorm Primary Tank (high neck = burpee-proof) or the Next Level Racerback for Cricut designs!

Leggings: The Old Navy High-Waisted 7/8 Leggings stay in place. I may or may not own them in 7 colors…
If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time, let me be honest: it doesn’t exist. But with the right plan (hello FITM App!), the right tools, and a little bit of grit, you CAN make it happen.
You don’t need a gym. You need a plan, a purpose, and a little support along the way. And that’s exactly what I’m here to give you.
Let’s get stronger together.
